The Sad Tale of the Thorntons Chocolates

Before I begin I should just say that anyone who gets easily upset should avoid reading this post.

On Thursday night I decided to do some ironing while watching Eastenders. As ever, I was in the mood for chocolate, so I decided to dip into the last of the large box of Thorntons that I was given as a leaving present (yes there were some left!). I got the box from the cupboard, opened the lid and placed the box on the coffee table - I could then dip in as I was ironing.

I began my chore and ate a chocolate (yes just one). After I had finished I went to see my boyfriend who was doing some work in the garage. (At this point I think it is worth mentioning that we have a 16 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrior cross.) I returned to the livingroom and to my dismay the Thorntons' box was upside down on the floor and all the chocolates were gone! I can't remember how many were left but I know that 2 of them were wrapped in foil but foil is obviously no obsticle for our dog! As you may beable to imagine my boyfriend's words of comfort - 'but the ones that were left weren't your favourites' - did nothing to make me feel better - THEY WERE THORNTONS CHOCOLATES!

Anyway, I've got that off my chest! By the way our dog is fine after his chocolate indulgance.

    Hello Chocolate Girl-
What can I say? The audacity of your dog? What is wrong with your
"Staffordshire Bull Terrior cross."? Could it not read the label? Thornton Chocolates are evidently for human consumption.
Speaking of Thorton chocolates...When I went back to Vancouver in 2005, I took over a great load of Thortons chocolates and my greedy Brothers ate them all for breakfast!
Nice to see another blog from you Chcocolate Girl.

    P.S.
In France and Italy it takes years to train dogs to hunt for truffles...... admittedly they are not the chocolate variety, and the dogs there don't eat them! D x

Grr, definitely a candidate for the doghouse! Have you tried Green and Blacks organic milk chocolate with butterscotch? Yummy!

Its good to see you are still blogging even though you have left MAGMA. i heard you were pleased when i got you a leaving present; Leffe Blonde

im gonna leave you with a important practice you should follow when eating a box of chocolates be it by yourself or sharing a box with friends, etc. aparently it is considered to be bad etiquette (+ bad luck) to start on the 2nd layer of a box with finishing all the chocolates on the 1st layer, that is even if you take a chocolate from the 2nd and replace it with 1 of the remaining chocolates on the 1st.

if i offer chocolates out i simply refuse to let any1 take any from the 2nd unless all have gone from the 1st
